Ingredients:

For the Ricotta Mixture:

  • 16 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Lasagna Layers:

  • 12 lasagna noodles (boiled according to package instructions or no-boil noodles)
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the meat sauce:
  • In a large skillet or pot, cook the ground beef and sausage over medium heat until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
  • Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until the onion becomes soft and translucent.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, sugar, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  • Simmer on low for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
