CABBAGE BREDIE
Ingredients
10 pieces of blade beef ( you may use any red meat )
2 large onions, peeled and finely chopped
4 tablespoons of oil
1 green pepper, chopped (optional )
2 all spice ( pimento )
Salt to taste
1 clove of garlic, peeled and finely chopped ( optional )
1 whole chili
1 head of cabbage, rinsed and chopped
6-8 potatoes, peeled and halved
METHOD
In a large pot, on high heat add the oil and onions, green pepper, chili, all spice and allow to caramelise/ brown. Next add the meat and garlic and brown meat well, stirring occasionally. Next add the salt and pepper, a cup of water and cook on medium heat until meat is almost tender, about 40-50 minutes,depending on the cut of meat, adding water as required to prevent burning and make sure to stir occasionally.
Next, add the potatoes and the cabbage and cook for 15 minutes. Stir to allow cabbage and potatoes to brown and cook evenly. Add a little water if needed, Cook until potatoes are soft.
Serve with white rice and beetroot or atchar or sambal.
