Christmas Frozen-Inspired Candy Apple

Ingredients:
4 medium-sized apples
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup water
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
A pinch of salt
Colorful sprinkles or crushed candy canes for topping

Directions:

  1. Get the Apples Ready: Clean and thoroughly dry each apple. Insert a wooden skewer into the stem end of each apple.
  2. Prepare Candy Mixture: Combine sugar, water, corn syrup, vanilla extract, and salt in a saucepan. Stir over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  3. Bring to a Boil: Allow the mixture to come to a boil, without stirring, until it reaches the hard crack stage or a temperature of about 300°F (150°C).
  4. Dip the Apples: When the mixture is at the right temperature, carefully submerge each apple into the hot candy, ensuring even coating all around.
  5. Decorate Immediately: Quickly sprinkle colorful toppings like sprinkles or crushed candy canes over the freshly coated apples while the candy is still hot and sticky.
  6. Cool Down: Set the coated apples on a tray lined with parchment paper. Let them sit until the candy completely hardens.
