Cinnamon Twisted Donuts

Here’s a simple and delicious Cinnamon Twisted Donuts recipe that gives you that crispy-on-the-outside, soft-and-fluffy-on-the-inside kind of vibe, with a perfect cinnamon-sugar finish.


Cinnamon Twisted Donuts Recipe

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ½ cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

For the coating:

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup melted butter (for brushing)

For frying:

  • Vegetable oil (for deep frying)

Instructions:

1. Make the Dough:

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, egg, and vanilla to the flour mix.
  4. Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes (or use a mixer with a dough hook) until it’s smooth and elastic.
  5. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

2. Shape the Donuts:

  1. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle (about ¼ inch thick).
  2. Cut into strips about 1 inch wide and 6-7 inches long.
  3. Take two strips, twist them together gently, and pinch the ends to seal.
  4. Place twisted donuts on a tray lined with parchment paper, cover, and let rise again for 30-45 minutes.

3. Fry the Donuts:

  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry a few donuts at a time, about 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  3. Drain on paper towels.

4. Coat in Cinnamon Sugar:

  1. While donuts are still warm, brush with melted butter.
  2. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl, then roll the donuts in the mixture until well coated.

Optional Glaze (instead of cinnamon sugar):

Mix 1 cup powdered sugar with 2 tbsp milk and ½ tsp vanilla. Drizzle or dip.
