Garlic Herb Sourdough Bread Stuffed with Brie & Cranberry
Ingredients:
For the Bread:
- 1 large round sourdough loaf (preferably 8–10 inches in diameter)
- 8 oz Brie cheese (rind on or off, your choice), cut into thin slices or small cubes
- 1/2 cup whole berry cranberry sauce (store-bought or homemade)
For the Garlic Herb Butter:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped (or 1 tsp dried)
- 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves (or 1/4 tsp dried)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Optional: 1/4 tsp black pepper or crushed red pepper flakes for a kick
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). - Prep the Bread
- Using a sharp bread knife, cut the sourdough loaf into a grid pattern: make slices about 1 inch apart across the top of the loaf, then turn and repeat the other direction.
- Important: Don’t slice all the way through—stop about 1/2 inch from the bottom crust so the loaf stays intact.
- Mix Garlic Herb Butter
In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, herbs, salt, and pepper. Stir well. - Stuff the Bread
- Carefully open up the cuts in the bread and tuck in pieces of Brie and small spoonfuls of cranberry sauce throughout.
- Use a spoon or pastry brush to drizzle or brush the garlic herb butter evenly into all the cuts and across the top of the loaf.
- Bake
- Wrap the entire loaf loosely in foil and place it on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 15 minutes, then uncover and bake for another 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melty and the bread is golden and crisp on top.
- Serve
- Serve warm! Pull apart pieces and enjoy melty cheese, tart cranberry, and herby garlicky bread in each bite.
Optional Add-ins:
- Chopped pecans or walnuts for crunch
- Caramelized onions for a sweet-savory element
- A drizzle of honey or balsamic glaze before serving
