Grandma’s Christmas Fudge Recipe

Grandma’s Christmas Fudge Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional, but they add a nice touch!)

Directions:

  1. Prepare your pan: Line an 8×8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent the fudge from sticking.
  2. Cook the fudge base: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, butter, milk, and salt. Stir frequently until the butter melts and the mixture comes to a boil. Once it reaches a boil, reduce the heat slightly and continue to cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Add the chocolate: Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the chocolate chips until they are completely melted and smooth. Then, add the vanilla extract and stir to combine.
  4. Optional: Add walnuts: If you like nuts in your fudge, stir in the chopped walnuts at this point.
  5. Pour into pan: Pour the fudge mixture into your prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
  6. Chill: Let the fudge cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, then transfer it to the fridge and allow it to set for at least 2 hours or until firm.
  7. Cut and enjoy: Once set, cut the fudge into small squares. Enjoy the sweet, creamy flavor of this homemade holiday treat!

Tips:

  • If you want to make the fudge extra festive, you can stir in some red and green sprinkles or mini marshmallows after it’s cooked.
  • For a richer flavor, you can substitute half of the semisweet chocolate with milk chocolate or dark chocolate.

Would you like to try this one, or is there another type of candy you were thinking of—like peanut brittle, chocolate truffles, or something else?
