Molhadinho prestige cake

The Molhadinho Prestige cake is a rich, ultra-moist Brazilian-style chocolate cake inspired by the flavors of the Prestígiochocolate bar — a beloved combo of chocolate and coconut. “Molhadinho” literally means “a little wet,” referring to how soaked and fudgy the cake is, often with a moist texture from coconut milk or syrup.

🍫 Chocolate Cake Base:

Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 1 cup milk (warm)
  • ½ cup oil
  • 1 cup cocoa powder (preferably dark, unsweetened)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9×13” (or similar) pan.
  2. In a bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add warm milk and oil. Mix well.
  4. Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix until smooth.
  5. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 35–40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let cool slightly, then poke holes all over the cake with a fork or skewer.

🥥 Coconut Filling (Prestige-style):

Ingredients:

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1½ cups shredded coconut (unsweetened or sweetened depending on taste)
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions:

  1. In a pan, combine all ingredients and cook over medium heat.
  2. Stir constantly until it thickens but remains spreadable — about 8–10 minutes.
  3. Pour over the cake while both are still warm, letting it soak into the holes.

🍫 Chocolate Ganache Topping:

Ingredients:

  • 200g dark chocolate (about 7 oz)
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions:

  1. Heat cream until just before boiling.
  2. Pour over chopped chocolate and let sit 2 minutes.
  3. Stir until smooth. Pour over the coconut layer.

🧊 Chill & Serve:

  • Refrigerate the cake for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, for the best molhadinho texture.
  • Serve cold or at room temp — it’s rich either way!
