Red Hot Cinnamon Hard Candy
Old-Fashioned Spicy Cinnamon Candy
Ingredients:
Butter (for greasing)
4 cups granulated sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup purified water
1 teaspoon red food coloring (optional)
1 teaspoon cinnamon candy oil
1 cup powdered sugar
Directions:
Prepare Pan: Grease a 15”x10” sheet pan and line it with buttered parchment paper.
Boil Mixture: In a large saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and red food coloring. Heat over medium-high heat until the mixture boils, then simmer for about 3 minutes.
Heat to 300°F: Use a candy thermometer to bring the mixture to the hard crack stage (300°F/150°C).
Add Cinnamon: Remove the saucepan from the heat and quickly stir in the cinnamon candy oil, mixing well.
Set & Break: Pour the hot mixture into the prepared pan. Allow it to cool completely for 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Dust the surface with powdered sugar, then use a hammer or the back of a knife to break the candy into bite-sized pieces.
